And this is where
we - and you - come in

Newport Water’s Hydrate Barbados campaign has been created to provide the groundwork we need to combat challenges in our society. The program empowers corporates and individuals – in the drive for national well-being and in the fight against single-use plastics.

At present, plastic drinks bottles are one of the most commonly found items of waste in our oceans. Around 1million of them are purchased every single minute world-wide. In Barbados, we want to get our figure down to zero.

What do YOU need to know about Hydrate Barbados?

We’re proud to be Barbadians. As our marine life is smothered and our waters polluted, as we find ourselves actually eating plastic particles every single time we consume fish, our country has taken a stand.

We are tackling the ocean plastic problem head-on. But we will only succeed if we have the infrastructure to support it. Combatting plastic drink bottles plays an enormous part in that.

Locations include: Schools, universities, colleges, boardwalks, parks, beaches, bus stands, recreational and entertainment centres, airports etc.

While testing is on-going on electricity consumption, the unit is structured very similar to a refrigerator with a ## amp compressor and highly efficient chilling technology. It cuts in and out as needed to maintain water at desired temperature.

Water at the highest commercial rate and inclusive of relevant sewerage and garbage taxes cost only 3 cents per gallon. This means very low cost despite regardless of very high consumption rates

The station is:
Height: 83”
Width: 47.5”
Depth: 24”

How many sides are branded?

Three sides of the station are branded.

Typically, what should branding be?

The drinking stations will be branded for the Sponsor. Both Newport and the Host will review and approve of branding.

Corporates will typically brand stations in their chosen environment to with a message, product or a combination of both which speak to their audience. Branding includes logos and colours.

Why are hydrate barbados stations a need in our schools?

Research done at schools over a period of time indicate that students were:

1) bringing a limited amount of water from home,
2) drinking water from the bathroom or garden taps
3) utilizing poorly maintained and often times unhygienic drinking fountains
4) purchasing bottled water or sodas at a minimum of $2.00 each (where students had to spend, sodas were by far the more frequent choice)

Many were doing one or more of the above. For example, a student who brings water from home would often run out of water during the day and would end up drinking or refilling at either the garden or bathroom taps.

Hydrate Barbados Station is set to raise the bar on hydration access, hygiene and health at every school by making pure refreshing drinking water the most accessible beverage on every school campus.

Is the hydrate barbados station filtered? If so, what type of filtration is used?

Newport every station is fitted with superior submicron carbon filtration technology which provides superior chlorine taste & odor reduction and micro-filters dirt and particles as small as 0.5 micron in size. This filters the existing tap water making it crystal-clear, removing odour and taste impurities while reducing possible health contaminants such as asbestos fibers and a number of microorganisms including cryptosporidium.

10,000 litre plus capacity

NSF/ANSI Standard 53 certified

Ultra-violent (uv) technology

A large percentage of our stations will also carry UV – The UV-C light mercury vapors are lethal for any type of microorganism (bacteria, virus, fungus, algae etc.): it is for this reason that water treated with a UV-C sterilizer is bacteria free
